Painting a New Canvas

A Workshop of Personal Exploration and Dialogue

This workshop was specifically designed to provide a safe haven for individuals to begin a journey of self-awareness, growth, and transition. It is dedicated to facilitating the discovery, confrontation, examination, and resolution of those issues that interfere with fulfillment of an individual's potential and spirit. It is intended to be the springboard for a personal reclaiming or reawakening of what one might have left behind. The occasion would also provide a framework to develop and sustain learning opportunities that would assist each participant in contributing, not only to their own personal growth, but to becoming a more valuable asset to their communities as well.
The course explores topics such as:
  • assessing one's personal temperament
  • identifying personal needs that have been ignored and forgotten
  • wellness of body, mind, and spirit
  • venturing into and interacting with groups of dissimilar cultures or value systems
  • making sense of rapid changes in the environment in which one lives.

  Workshop Overview

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

Participants will be guided through experiential activities, introspective reflection exercises, and dialogue sessions to provide opportunities for each participant to tap into their own and other's experiences, attitudes, and resources.

The workshop will be organized into four areas of focus and last for two full days (an overnight together would be preferable).

DAY ONE/AM

Who am I?
(Self-awareness )

This area of focus addresses issues of self-awareness, personal wellness and self-mastery. The focus is intended to strengthen an individual's ability to be personally effective in their roles as community leaders by becoming aware of their individual personal strengths and challenges, their inborn personality/style preferences and the interplay of their styles with others in daily life.

DAY ONE/PM
Who am I with you?
(Interpersonal Competence)

This area of focus will address interpersonal effectiveness and the competence requirements to be heard when speaking and to listen to others in a profound way.

DAY TWO/AM

Who are we?
(Group Interaction)

This area of focus will strengthen the ability of participants to be an effective group member by seeing views and behaviors as they are influenced by the group-as-a-whole, and by any unmet needs of individual members.

DAY TWO/PM
Who are we all?
(The Community Environment)

This area of focus will build on any new or improved viewpoints created during the workshop in light of the complex, dynamic environment of our communities and daily lives. We will jointly explore Possibilities to create personal resilience and adaptability during chaotic and unstable times.
